Truth?
The reason “Truth” is followed by a question mark is simply because of this question, how do you know it is true? Well, think about these questions: You gonna believe every person’s words? (or) You gonna believe just some people? You gonna believe every book you read? (or) You gonna believe only some books you read? and why believe those books in the first place, above others? Are you gonna believe everything you hear on TV, and Radio? (Or) only some of what you hear? Do you hear the gentle voice of God speaking to your spirit?
Heart
Ears can can listen. There is a difference between listening and hearing. (hearing infers understanding). Often people hear God speaking by way of their heart. Have you tried to (hear/understand) with both your heart and your brain? You know we have both for a reason. When people read about Gods goodness, it often moves our heart or leads to changes of heart. And what could be wrong with that? Do we believe? Jesus said, I am … ,the Truth, … John 14:6. So, Who are you gonna believe? …………. Social media? Philosophers? News Pundits?……?
Fast Talking?
With Social media’s rapid growth, with the numerous “Loud voices talking“, with cultures at war and in a “battle angry” fight over many “talking points“, with a main stream media that “just wont stop talking“, with talk radios popularity/growth and their “talking points“, with politician after politician making promise after promise “talking about whatever gets the vote“, even some school teachers with personal bias/slants to what they want to “teach/talk about” etc. It is really about time you start finding out “for yourself“, how to simply “wade through this big nasty mess of different Schools of Thought” that surrounds us all, and actually separate the real “truth” from the just, “what somebody wants you to believe“. This involves doing something called “Critical thinking” and yes it involves “listening” before you start “talking”. You must hear both sides. You must do a little prolonged research on occasion and you must ….. must, very important here, “Actually Think” knowing it could be “Critical” that you know “Truth“. And don’t try to think from a super bias starting position …. because you could miss the “Truth“.
Meditate
Often, meditation and critical thinking keeps us from jumping to conclusions, prevents us from becoming biased, or getting stuck in opinions shared by others. Personally, I hear best when I meditate away from the noise, pray, and follow Descartes’ “Scientific Method“. I start with “what is being said” and then believe, it is “only a hypothesis“, it is not a fact etched in stone. Then I look at the “Observations“, and ask, what have I seen as evidence, and also as non-evidence? In-order to back up the claims, then I ask, is there any real “Data of Evidence that speaks to me?“; that will further back up these claims, then I do some of the “Verifying Research“, by asking more questions, I ask what are other people that are not in this camp saying or claiming? Only then, can we both actually form a “Reasonable Conclusion” as our findings or our results, and feel OK, then that we are not being led around on a string by someone actually deceiving us both.
I recommend: That you welcome thought. Get on the road to “Critical Thinking“!
